Unique names
There are thousands of companies' names registered in the states we incorporate in. With this in mind, to make your company's name unique and guarantee it won't be rejected by the Secretary of State, try to follow these useful tips:
- Do not use very common words, such as "computers";
- When possible try to use more than one word.
Please notice that sometimes the company's name is flagged as approved, but due to similarities with other companies' names, it is then rejected by the state. In these cases, we need to provide additional options which delay the entire process.
Foreign words
We highly advise our clients to choose English words for their business names in order to avoid delays in the registration process. The reason is every foreign word needs to be translated to English and the process can be on hold until the translation is provided.
If you decide to go with a foreign word in your business name, please provide the translation as soon as possible to our Customer Support Team.
Accent marks are also not accepted in the company’s name since they do not exist in English. Examples: é, ë, è, ē, ê, ç, ñ, ø, etc.
