To get your change of agent right, please note you will need to update your US mailing address accordingly. Addresses obtained from another registered agent should be discontinued as you won’t have access to this current mailing address shortly after the change of agent is processed.
You can provide your own US address or opt into our Mailroom service, to receive a premium, unique address for your business and gain unlimited access to mail services via your Firstbase dashboard. If you have a valid US address, please let us know and we will update your application. Please note that you must be legally allowed to use this address and have regular access to it.
To make the transition easier and more seamless for our customers, our team will handle all the intricacies of changing your business mailing address with the State and the IRS, which include: updating the information with the Secretary of State and notifying the IRS by submitting the 8822-b form.
Once you provide a new address, our team will send you a filled 8822-b for you to sign. Upon signature, we’ll mail the document and follow up on the progress of the application. Please note that it generally takes 4 to 6 weeks for the IRS to process your address change, from the date on which the form is mailed.
Failure to change the business address on a timely basis can result in not having access to your documents and important notices once the service contract with your former RA ends.
